    Highly Social

Just a very quick note to say if you're on one of those whizzbang social network things, you can show the world your colours and be a fan/friend/follower of Keep Up! You can do so using the following links MySpace Facebook Fan page Twitter (I've not actually done anything with the twitter feed yet, but am going to try and do something special with it soon)

    Keep Up! 001 : Update!

Well, it's been almost a month since our first vinyl offering went to the shops and the feedback has been pretty amazing. Here's just a snippet of what people have been saying about the record... "Debuts don't really come much better than this...this little number has got 'play me if you want to make *cough* shake' written all over it" iDJ Magazine (Recommend Single of the Week) "This cut takes its cue from from the hard-hitting American funk and soul cuts of the late...

    Current music book faves

I've just returned from a trip to Namibia. Caetano Veloso's Tropical Truth helped swallow up the 10 hour truck journeys. If you're into your Brazilian music, you'll know Veloso as the leader of the Tropicalia movement and massive Brazilian star from the 60s onwards. The book's an interesting insight into how Veloso almost slipped into a career in music, founded Tropicalia as a reaction to the MPB of 50s and 60s, ended up in jail and in then in exile - all because his music dared to...

Dropping Science - J Rocc J Rocc from "The World Famous Beatjunkies" cutting up the new Blue Note comp of the same name. AmpLive's Remixes of In Rainbows Ain't blowing my socks off, but aren't too bad. The weekend starts here...erm....there

Second Friday of the month can mean only one thing, and that's us running home from work, skipping dinner, throwing as many records as we can carry in a bag and making our way down to (what some have called) Brixton's finest friday night out. On duty tonight will be myself, Jus' Jules and Nexus, with the usual Keep Up! style of mixed business. What makes tonight slightly more interesting (for me at least) is that I'll be using Serato for the first time in public. Will the laptop crash?...

  • Big in Paraguay

    Big in Paraguay

Some of you may or may not know that the Keep Up crew are pretty big news in Paraguay. What with one of our top boy dj?s being from that way and one of the tunes on our debut 7 inch release being produced in Paraguay by way of Tooting. It?s a bit like being big in Japan but bigger obviously! In fact if we keep this up we are going to try and get Tooting twinned with Asuncion. Imagine that, Tooting bec lido filled with all manner of latin lovelies, tapas bars replacing curry houses, siesta...

Me&You - Sneaker Thief (Hint Remix)

As many a clich?d blog entry begins, the best things in life are free. So it's no surprise that this tasty Me&You remix from Hint (official friend of Keep Up!) is already my favourite track of the year. Me&You - Sneaker Thief (Hint Remix) Me&You are Rob Luis and TM Juke, label manager and established star of Brighton's Tru Thoughts record label respectively. After a couple of tracks already under their belt under this pseudonym (including a dub cover of Brown Paper Bag) and...

A bit of Friday YouTube Entertainment

Sophia George - Girlie Girlie I know nothing about this video other than it was brought to my attention by Long Distance Dan, and inspired me to put this little selection together. Some wonderful rhyming couplets in this tale of a man who is "too girly girly". Lev and Thumpbot play Crazy Robots with theremins. Need I say more? Major Force Present How to DJ - Pt.8 Originally on VHS, and supplied with two 12" records, "How To DJ" was a Japan only release...
